Clouds Architecture Office is an idea driven multidisciplinary practice integrates experience from the fields of architecture, academia, and the arts. Founded in 2010 in New York City by partners Masayuki Sono and Ostap Rudakevych, with Yuko Sono joining in 2015. The firm has completed projects that explore the intersection between conceptual and experiential approaches to the built environment, and has worked on projects ranging from residential, cultural, public arts to space architecture. The uniqueness of the firm lies in the process oriented approach involving rigorous research and design studies to discover the highest resolution for the program. The firm won NASA’s 3D Printed Habitat Challenge for Mars (2015) and began collaboration with NASA to develop the winning concept. In 2018, they announced AVATAR X LAB, a space exploration research facility designed for ANA and JAXA partnership. In 2022, 010 BUILDING, a mixed-use theater in Fukuoka was completed. Currently reconstruction support project in Ukraine using 3D printing is in progress.
