RYUE NISHIZAWA
Architect

Born in 1966. Graduated from Yokohama National University Graduate School in 1990. After working at Kazuyo Sejima & Associates, he co-founded SANAA with Kazuyo Sejima in 1995. Founded the Office of Ryue Nishizawa in 1997. He is currently a professor at Yokohama National University Graduate School Y-GSA. Major works by the Office of Ryue Nishizawa include the Moriyama House, House A, Towada Art Center, Teshima Art Museum, and Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa.

 

SANAA

Architectural office SANAA has received numerous awards, including the Golden Lion for the most significant work in the 9th Biennale di Venezia International Exhibition of Architecture in 2004, the 2010 Pritzker Architecture Prize, and the Praemium Imperiale for Architecture (1999). Major works include the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa; the New Museum (USA); the Rolex Learning Center (Switzerland); the Louvre-Lens (France); Grace Farms (USA); Shogin Tact Tsuruoka; Hitachi City Hall (Japan); Bocconi University’s New Urban Campus (Italy); La Samaritaine (France); and the Sydney Modern Project (Australia).
